Low-Interest Loan Awarded for Slatington Water Project, Mako Says
July 16, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Zach Mako (R-Lehigh/Northampton) today announced the Borough of Slatington has been awarded a $993,340 low-interest loan for a drinking water project.
The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) funding will be used to purchase and install 1,409 water meters accompanied by an enhanced data collection system to streamline meter reading and billing operations.
“By updating the meters, time spent gathering water usage for correct billing can be reduced,” Mako said. “This will modernize operations in order to allow for employees to work more efficiently.”
PENNVEST funds sewer, storm water and drinking water projects throughout the Commonwealth through low-interest loans and grants.
The 183rd District includes Lowhill and North Whitehall townships and Slatington Borough in Lehigh County. It also consists of Allen, East Allen, Lehigh and Moore (part) townships, and Bath, North Catasauqua, Northampton and Walnutport boroughs in Northampton County.
